BIBLE-BASED CURRICULUM

LCLG uses a Biblical Worldview Curriculum, which helps children develop their knowledge of God as they learn within the context of the different academic subjects. Biblical values and character development which are necessary components for life and central in education of the intellect will be taught using “living books”. This is based on the philosophy of education espoused by Charlotte Mason who advocated for children to be given a wide buffet of learning experiences and a generous curriculum of ideas and knowledge.  This curriculum will be constantly reviewed and improved upon by the in-house curriculum expert in consultation with an advisor well versed in matters of curriculum.

The long-term objective of LCLG is to develop and promote a parent-child-teacher co-learning model in Kenya. This approach targets enhanced personalized learning for children through high parental participation in education delivery, with the support of an experienced teacher. The rationale for this model is to support Christian parents to understand and fulfill their God-given responsibility to bring up their children in the training and instruction of theLord (Eph 6:4).

Using a Bible-based curriculum, LCLG focuses on discipleship and character formation, intellectual curiosity, emotional intelligence, physical education, and community awareness and participation. A biblical worldview is embedded in every subject across the curriculum including
Mathematics, Science, Language, the Arts, Humanities, Play, etc. For example, our approach to teaching science uses the Biblical account from Genesis on the creation of the earth and man. This methodology is enhanced by pairing classroom learning with home-based education where learning can be tailored to the individual child’s strengths and needs.

The University-Model®

The University-Model® is a five-day academic program with students spending 2-3 days in the central classroom and 2-3 days in their “satellite classroom” at home. Both classrooms are under the supervision of the professional educator.

The University-Model® offers a rigorous, college-preparatory education that is second to none. Validation of the University-Model® by the entire educational community proves its value as a highly credible alternative model of education. The Cognia accreditation of NAUMS, Inc., along with the growing number of accredited NAUMS, Inc. member schools, support this belief.

School Year

LCLG’s curriculum is based on the American system of education which consists of two semesters in a calendar year, each having a short mid-break.

The annual learning cycle is therefore divided into four quarters of nine weeks each. Each semester is eighteen weeks long - with the full academic year being thirty-six weeks.

Parental Involvement

The key to the success of the concept is the integration of a biblically-based, parentally-guided, Christian faith and a sound, teacher-directed, academic environment. Parents partner with professional educators in this educational process. Under the supervision of the qualified educator, parents are required to provide oversight responsibilities of their children’s coursework in the satellite classroom at home. They also serve as paraprofessionals by providing extension, enrichment, tutoring, and study skills instruction.
